The Process

From first idea to printed object

01

Contact

Send me the idea: a book, a phrase, a character, a mood, a place, or even just a feeling.

02

Deposit

Once the direction feels right, you place a design deposit so I can begin the commission.

03

Proofs

I create several initial visual directions so you can see different ways the poster might live.

04

Selection

You choose the direction that feels strongest, strangest, most beautiful, or most true.

05

Refinement

We refine the selected design through a limited number of revision rounds.

06

Payment & Shipping

After final approval, you pay the remaining balance and I arrange printing and shipping.

Commissioned posters for books, worlds, moods, and obsessions

A poster commission does not need to begin with a polished brief. It can begin with a sentence, a scene, a title, a favorite book, an invented place, a strange historical reference, or a mood you cannot quite describe.

The process is meant to feel closer to commissioning a tattoo or working with a small design studio than ordering a generic print. You bring the idea. I develop several visual directions. Together we choose the strongest path, refine it, and turn it into a finished printed object.

This is for people who want something more specific than ordinary wall art: authors, translators, small presses, tabletop players, worldbuilders, collectors, readers, and anyone with a private mythology they want made visible.

Possible Commissions

Literary, historical, fantastical, personal.

Custom posters for novels, translations, RPG campaigns, fictional worlds, personal libraries, favorite poems, imaginary exhibitions, lost films, strange gifts, and private obsessions.

The style can move between modern editorial design, archival ephemera, occult broadside, literary print, fantasy travel poster, 19th-century engraving, or something harder to name.

About

Designed by James Orestes

I’m interested in books, historical objects, invented worlds, translation, visual culture, and the strange space between literary design and personal mythology.

Start a Commission

Tell me the rough version.

You do not need a polished brief. A book, phrase, place, character, mood, historical period, or strange obsession is enough to begin.
